Job specification - Adhere to all relevant healthcare guidelines, ensuring best practices in every aspect of patient care. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver well-rounded patient care. - Diagnose and treat a variety of eye conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. - Engage with the local community through eye health awareness programs and screening events. - Keep meticulous records of patient histories, examination results, treatment plans, and follow-up visits. - Prescribe and customize eyewear, including glasses and contact lenses, to meet individual patient needs. - Provide essential care before and after eye surgeries, ensuring patients' recovery and ongoing eye health. Candidate requirements - Must have a Doctor of Optometry degree and be registered under the General Optical Council. - Must have a valid state license to practice Optometry in the United Kingdom. - Flexibility: Availablity to receive locum tasks throughout the year, while having the flexibility to accommodate occasional shifts or extended work periods, preferred - Skillset: High level of expertise in identifying and treating various eye-related conditions and disorders. - Mobility: Must be available to travel to various places of practice within Somerset. Role scope

  • Deliver sight tests, clinical assessment and patient communication to a consistently high standard.
  • Use professional judgement around referral, clinical escalation and patient education.
  • Work with the practice team to keep clinics safe, smooth and commercially aware without rushing clinical quality.
