We are looking for a professional who can apply their knowledge and experience to support patients in achieving optimal eye health and vision outcomes. Job specification - Perform eye surgeries, such as laser vision correction and cataract, and provide pre-and post-operative care. - Maintains patient records and prescribes medications to treat ocular diseases and disorders. - Examine the eye tissues from various directions, using instruments that shine light into the patient's eye and magnify various features. - Place combinations of lenses in front of one or both eyes to check how well the eye focuses. - Recommend eye exercises and advising solutions to the problems associated with visual impairment. Candidate requirements - Must have obtained an undergraduate degree in Optometry and be registered with the General Optical Council (GOC). - Must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in the UK. - Permit to work in the UK. - Should possess the ability to explain medical terms simply and calmly. - Must know how to use examination tools, such as Ophthalmoscope and tonometer. Role scope

  • Deliver sight tests, clinical assessment and patient communication to a consistently high standard.
  • Use professional judgement around referral, clinical escalation and patient education.
  • Work with the practice team to keep clinics safe, smooth and commercially aware without rushing clinical quality.

  • Testing structure, equipment, appointment length and support team context.
  • Saturdays, late clinics, locum dates or permanent rota expectations.

Candidate profile
